During the Innovatie Estafette on the 12th of November in the RAI in Amsterdam, the winners of the Green Deal Runner Up Award will be presented. The award is an initiative of the Green Deal Board.

This award goes to the three Green deals with the most promising results and a “Green-and-growth potential.” Moreover, the jury looks at whether the deal is showing a special performance regarding the areas of cooperation, courage and innovation.

One of the nominated initiatives is the Green deal IT Amsterdam, a public-private collaboration to increase the energy efficiency of the datacenter industry in the Amsterdam region. Green IT Amsterdam is one of the partners in this Green Deal, next to the municipality of Amsterdam and Omgevingsdienst NZKG. The consortium produced a publication on retrofit business cases for datacenters together with EnergyGo, launched the online showcase platform Green IT Energy Solutions for sustainable datacenter solutions and is conducting quick scans at datacenters to identify potential opportunities to reduce the energy usage of datacenters.

The Green Deal Runner Up Award is an encouraging incentive. In 2014, the first Green Deal Award will be presented.
